Arizona Laser Technician School, Certification and Salary

Education Required

The state of Arizona requires certain education and hands on training in order to perform laser therapy on a patient. Laser therapy in this state can be broken down into two main categories: Laser Hair Removal and Other Procedures.

Laser Technicians looking to practice laser hair removal in Arizona must complete the following tasks to apply for certification:

  • Forty hours of didactic training.  National Medspa Training Institute offer Online Courses to meet didactic training requirements. 

  • For hair removal, complete hands-on training that is supervised by a health professional who is acting within the health professional’s scope of practice or by a laser technician who has a minimum of one hundred hours of hands-on experience per procedure. Our instructors are physicians and laser technicians offering more than 20 years of laser experience.   The health professional or laser technician must be present in the room during twenty-four hours of hands-on use of lasers or IPL devices.  The supervising health professional or laser technician shall verify that the aesthetician or cosmetologist has completed the training and supervision as prescribed by this section.

  • Submit to the agency the provisional certificate from the training program and certification by the health professional or laser technician who directly supervised the applicant in the room during the hands-on training.

 

Laser Technicians who intend to perform additional cosmetic laser procedures in addition to hair removal must also complete the following for each addition type of medical procedure:

  • Complete a minimum of an additional twenty-four hours of hands-on training of at least ten cosmetic procedures for each type of specific procedure that is supervised by a health professional who is acting within the health professional’s scope of practice or by a laser technician who has a minimum of one hundred hours of hands-on experience per procedure.  Our hands on learning offered in our Colorado Spring Training facility provides students 24 hours of hands on training and all patient models are provided with training log to document practice and treatments performed. 

 

Additional cosmetic laser procedures requiring the additional training include: Hair Reduction, Skin Rejuvenation, Non-Ablative Skin Resurfacing, Spider Vein Reduction, Skin Tightening, Wrinkle Reduction, Laser Peel, Telangiectasia Reduction, Acquired Adult Hemangioma Reduction, Facial Erythema Reduction, Solar Lentigo Reduction (Age Spots), Ephelis Reduction (Freckles), Acne Scar Reduction, and Photo Facial.

Arizona Laser Technician Certification(s)

Arizona requires persons performing cosmetic laser procedures to register with the state. Successful registration requires completion of the 40 hours of training, 24 hours of hands on training, and a passing score of 80% or greater on a agency approved examination. After your registration is accepted by the state you will receive a certification which is effective for 12 months. You will then need to renew the certification going forward.
